It is a house preparation season, putting things in order for God - coming into a time of repentance, turning from sins, to the true God. Here are a few scriptures mentioning Houses in the Bible.

Joshua 24:15 "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. Matthew 12:44,45 "Then he says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes, he finds [it] empty, swept, and put in order." (continues on)

Haggai 1:9 "[You] looked for much, but indeed [it came to] little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?" says the LORD of hosts. "Because of My house that [is in] ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house.
