Song of Songs

I am starting a series on the Song of Songs, by Mike Bickle from the International House of Prayer, using His teaching to delve into the depths of whole-hearted abandonment to Jesus, in other words, love. I will try to condense what has been a 1 year journey into some helpful nuggets of truth that I believe have made this book come alive, and give me desire to study the book long term (i'm thinking 10 years atleast)

I am before an audience of one. It's because of Him that I am here. He loves me, I belong to Him.

Turning to Him is because of love. I do not come back to Him because of mental lapse. He loves me, I belong to Him.

My life is in seasons, and it's helpful to know that He's not "putting me through struggles"

Love does not need reward, to give up everything for the sake of love.

My obedience is like fragrant oil to His senses. He said it best when He said "If you love me, keep my commandments"

God is my designer, and He loves me, He desires me.

Suffering is transitory when the one who loves you is Eternal God

The most important, I am lovesick! I am lovesick! I am lovesick!

Confidence before Him is in Love. He puts my heart at rest, AND he is the rest of the elect.

The true miracle is how you made me, and how the Son of God became a baby

Reward is simply to obey.

If you are in Oxford, on Friday mornings, I will be starting a series on Song of Songs at 6am in the Prayer Room. Here are links to the study notes and the transcript of the time, Friday 15th July 2011. From the Study Notes: "First is, the relationship between Jesus and the individual believer. This approach gives spiritual principles that aid us in our progression of holy passion. This is the way we approach this study. We bless different interpretations as long as they exhort others to grow in love for Jesus."
